Fredda McDonald’s career has been characterized by measurable business results in a variety of roles, from entrepreneur to corporate executive. Early on, she learned at the feet of industry giants like The Coca-Cola Company and Delta Air Lines and later worked with technology start-ups during the original “dot.com” era. McDonald was also tapped to work with the International Olympic Committee on their Global Brand Marketing plan. And she consulted with several of Olympic Partners, such as Visa, which phased into a career focused on payments technology. McDonald served in a senior role with MasterCard for five years and her last corporate job was as EVP of the nation’s largest credit union payments organization, PSCU. McDonald has returned to consulting with her new company, Lydian Management, and with her range of industry perspectives she has developed a framework for innovation that can apply to companies both large and small. In addition to consulting, McDonald is a highly sought after speaker and author, and is a regular contributor to many industry publications.

Lively Look at Innovation

Boxbreakers is a lively look at innovation and the process used to "think outside the box" for business success. In a series of carefully told stories. Ms. McDonald tosses conventional wisdom out the door as she explores several innovative products or services and how the innovative thinkers behind them took great ideas, polished them to perfection and created a new market. It's a jewel of a book which will unleash your own creative process.

My favorite aspect of this books is its practicality

I've read a lot of books on innovation. My favorite aspect of this book is its practicality. Here's a framework that can can be implemented quickly and easily to drive creative thinking for results. It's well-written, to the point and full of great examples of how the framework pays off.

The only thing difficult about this book is putting it down. Fredda McDonald combines inspiration with her refined, distinctly Southern and usually humorous storytelling ways to take you on an unforgettable journey. I found that the lessons learned, my 'take-aways,' from this book are highly valuable not only in the workplace as I focus on my career, but throughout life in general. In each chapter, she paints such a vivid picture through her words that the insight gained can be remembered for a lifetime. I can't wait to see what she comes up with next!
