a lot of info in this book and was definitely helpful however the how too can sometimes have you searching around in the book. in my opinion the chilton manuals layout are easier to read and identify find information but they generally cost more so this is good but you may like chiltons better.

Weekend Warrior; guide to success

I'm a weekend/shade tree mechanic. I'm far from an expert, however do most of my own vehicle maintenance and repairs when I have the time. I always buy a Hayes manual with each vehicle I buy, because these books are really helpful. They come with a nice conversion chart and generic trouble shooting guide for the novice. The first chapter give a nice list of routine maintenance list, also with all the product information(oil weight, spark plug part numbers, various fluid types, torque specifications, etc) The book will show you everything from changing your oil to replacing the camshaft. Excellent book for beginners, offers much more helpful information than the owner's manual that came inside the glovebox. While the books offers a lot of details, it falls short in some areas, such as details on the electrical system. For the experienced mechanic, it may not offer a lot of help, but for the beginners, it's a must have.

I have Purchased a Haynes manual for every vehicle I have ever owned. the Manuals are easy to read and understand. I'm what you call a do-it-yourselfer but not a professional by any means. I have used this manual to change my rotors, brakes, calipers with ease. I have also recently replaced front and rear shocks. I also used the wiring schematics to trouble shoot my trailer lights. My son has used his Haynes manual to learn more about his car as well. these are very well written and useful for any home shop.
